Hello, I’m Adrienne Scharnhorst, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with over a decade of experience in the mental health field. My passion for helping others began while I was earning my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of California, Davis, where I served as a volunteer crisis counselor for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence.
Since then, I have worked in a variety of settings, including acute psychiatric hospitals and community mental health programs, gaining valuable experience supporting individuals through life’s most challenging moments. I earned my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Phoenix, Sacramento, and have pursued specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), perinatal mood disorders through Postpartum Support International (PSI), and Systematic Affair Recovery Therapy (SART) under Dr. Talal Alsaleem, PsyD, LMFT.
I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of individuals, including those navigating substance use challenges, veterans, individuals in kink and polyamorous relationships, as well as adolescents, couples, and families from all walks of life.
My therapeutic approach is centered on creating a warm, collaborative space where you feel heard, valued, and supported. I believe in building upon your existing strengths while equipping you with practical tools to navigate life’s complexities. Healing is a deeply personal journey, and my role is to walk alongside you—offering guidance, encouragement, and a safe space for self-exploration. Together, we will engage in meaningful reflection, creative expression, and, when appropriate, gentle steps outside your comfort zone.
I look forward to supporting you on your path to growth and healing.
