Hi there, I'm JAHVON!

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I graduated from Cal State University, East Bay in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and in 2020, I earned my Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from San Diego State University. I proudly utilize evidence-based practices and interventions working directly with my clients to co-create their desired lives and align with their self-expectations.

My Approach

I utilize evidence-based practices and interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Psychoeducation, among other valuable tools. I see myself as a collaborative therapist with a client-centered approach, working directly with my clients to co-create their desired lives and align with their self-expectations.

My Focus

I have a passion for forming meaningful and professional connections with individuals of all ages. My experience ranges from conducting ABA therapy with children aged 4-10 to providing psychotherapy for clients aged 13-65+. I’ve worked with diverse populations, including those in the LGBTQ community, people of color (POC), and individuals with dual diagnoses, focusing on substance abuse and acute mental health diagnoses such as psychotic disorders, personality disorders, developmental disorders, PTSD, depression, and anxiety. I also have experience working with couples, individuals, and groups.

My Communication Style

I am direct and kind in my communication with others both in and out of the clinical environment. I aim to emulate a comfortable and warm therapeutic environment that doesn’t capitalize on power dynamics to enact change but also doesn’t cut corners that might inhibit individual growth. Cultivating a healthy, judgment-free, open, and receptive environment is my main goal– and if we share some laughs, well, that’s wonderful too!

My Journey to Mental Healthcare

I have always had a passion for people as simple as it may seem. Since I was a small child, I’ve always been an inquisitive, jovial individual, interested in different walks of life and what makes us all so uniquely different. I believe that every individual holds their own distinctive and unrepeatable experiences and is an expert on themselves in their own right; When we stop to take a moment to listen to others, genuinely and empathetically, we allow ourselves to be met in the present as well. Each one, teach one.

My Goals for You

My therapeutic goal is to empower my clients to live the lives they envision. I provide insights and techniques to educate and enhance their self-trust, helping them navigate life’s difficulties and obstacles. Of course, I also believe in the importance of taking a moment to “stop and smell the flowers” and embrace those cliches that remind us to appreciate the journey.
